Just a thought: those of us who write do so because we love to write. We believe we have something to say. As I tell people who ask me, I write to soothe the monsters in my head.
The progression to what we believe is a successful writer is where the problem lies. It’s suddenly not enough just to enjoy the process of writing. There must be something to show from it. Other people must like it. Then, it has to justify itself by earning a financial income.
I once asked a Law of Attraction expert the secret to getting published. The answer? Write another book.
If you believe in LOA, it makes sense. The satisfaction a writer feels while writing is the magic ingredient. Reactions to it by others are out of our control. Therefore, it can’t be a factor. Making it a factor throws us out of alignment with what we want–which is to write.
Proof? I have noticed that my short stories are bought and published after I’ve given up on them and moved on to other projects. The last acceptance email I got was a shock. I didn’t even remember the story.
Don’t believe in LOA? It’s still wise to move forward. Don’t look back. Release your work into the world and fall in love with a new story.
I couldn’t agree more. Enough said
